Campaign for the Commons

With Restore the Rec now underway, SCH continues its momentum toward completing the Campus Master Plan through the Campaign for the Commons—the third and final phase of this visionary initiative.

The Commons serves as the central hub of campus life, where students dine, study, socialize, and train. To accommodate SCH’s growing student body and to provide modernized facilities, renovations will enhance this essential space for generations to come.

The campaign for the Commons plan includes:

  • Enlarged interior gathering space & dining hall seating (COMPLETED!);
  • New fitness and training center in the Woodward Gym making it the largest coed fitness facility in the Inter-Ac (COMPLETED!);
  • Upgraded athletic training rooms;
  • Upgraded squash facilities;
  • Improved locker rooms; and
  • Redesigned exterior courtyard and student space.

The commons quad

  • A flexible amphitheater for performances, assemblies, and outdoor classes
  • A continuous pedestrian “Main Street” that enhances walkability through campus
  • Safer, more attractive access from Willow Grove Avenue that clearly denotes the entrance to the school
  • Removal of automobile traffic to create a calm, student-first environment
  • These improvements transform an underutilized area into a multifunctional landscape that supports wellness, creativity, and everyday student life.
