ABOUT THE TEAM
SCH has had a long and prestigious history in squash turning out top teams and players each year. SCH has produced a number of individual Junior National Champions in all age groups as well as several All-American college players. Graduating seniors find places in the top colleges and universities: Princeton, Brown, Cornell, Dartmouth, University of Pennsylvania, Naval Academy, Hobart, Colgate, St. Lawrence, Virginia, and many others.
The Middle School and Upper School teams have ranked among the top five teams nationally since the tournaments were started, with both teams placing as high as second in the country. Locally, SCH competes at the top of the Inter-Ac and MASA Leagues. The boys’ team was the Inter-Ac Squash Champions (2013-14), the Mid-Atlantic Squash Champions (2013-14), and 3rd in the USA National High Schools Team Championship (2013-2014).
Squash at SCH is a very popular sport, supported by enthusiastic, international and local coaches who instill a lifelong love of the game into their students, while emphasizing the tremendous character-building element of this rigorous sport. Technical and tactical proficiency is instilled at an early stage, and physical conditioning plays a greater role in the elite players.
The more competitive side of the program is balanced by the animated participation of recreational players who go on to make squash their lifetime choice of sport.
Program Director Mike Jefferys works closely with highly regarded Moustafa “Moose” Bayoumy. Coach Moustafa, a former NCAA All-American, Junior Egyptian National Team member, and former University of Virginia assistant coach joined the SCH squash community in January 2020.
