The success of SCH Academy boys’ varsity tennis rests on the principles of hard work, sportsmanship, camaraderie, and fun. The SCH boys’ varsity team has established a highly competitive program within the Inter-Ac League with the team finishing in 2nd place in 2019.

Coach Ryan Gargullo ‘98, an alumnus, returns to SCH as head coach. During his playing time at CHA, Coach Gargullo helped his team win four consecutive Inter-Ac Championships, amassed a 44-6 singles record and three-time MVP while playing in the #1 and #2 singles positions. After graduation, Gargullo received a scholarship to play tennis at LaSalle University where he dual majored in elementary and special education. At LaSalle Gargullo was a four-year team captain, played in the #1 position in addition to playing in the #1 doubles position and was a three-time All-Academic Athlete Award recipient.

Recently, Coach Gargullo worked at the premiere Evert Tennis Academy in Boca Raton, FL where he served as an international travel coach/manager for various players competing in the junior ITF Circuit in addition to being the academy’s director of College Placement. In 2017 he returned to Philadelphia to take on the role of head coach at Chestnut Hill College leading the program to its first CACC Conference Title and an NCAA East Regional Final. That same year Ryan was named Coach of the Year of the NCAA Division II Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference.
