The field hockey program at SCH is deeply rooted in tradition. We believe in building the strength of our players’ character through teamwork, emphasizing the value of a strong work ethic, demonstrating sportsmanship, and fostering a positive and supportive environment for the team.

Both the varsity and JV teams focus on mastering fundamental skills while also building and developing more advanced skills and strategies for play. Players spend their time in the off season attending summer camps and clinics, and many of the athletes are on travel and premier teams outside of school.

During the season, the team faces strong competition with great Inter-Ac League opponents, such as Episcopal and Notre Dame, and we expect to consistently build upon our previous achievements and continue to be a competitive contender in our league. Many of our players have gone on to play at the collegiate level at schools such as Penn State, Denison, Indiana, St. Joseph’s, and Amherst.

Philadelphia native Emilee Ehret Mahon took over the Blue Devils program in 2019. She was an outstanding player at Mount Saint Joseph’s Academy and went on to play at Penn State University where she and her teammates won two Big Ten Championships. She was a three-time Academic All-Big Ten player and recipient of the Yvonne Hoffman Ziegler Memorial Field Hockey Scholarship.
