ABOUT THE TEAM

The SCH girls cross-country team is a positive community of dedicated runners who aspire to reach their individual personal records through team training. We accept everyone who has the desire to run. SCH’s program recognizes that multifaceted team training is how runners are able to reach their potential. When each runner realizes their optimal ability, we are a successful team. Workouts consist of hill repeats, timed distance, long slow distance, fartlek (speed play) intervals, and track workouts. We incorporate strength conditioning through weight lifting and yoga. Stretching, striders and plyometric exercises also play an essential role in training. We aim to cultivate a lifelong love of running and competition in each of our athletes regardless of their prior experience.

The team competes in the Inter-Ac League and the Independent Schools (PAISAA) State Championship. We also race in many weekend invitational meets. We strive to expose SCH athletes to a wide range of competition, including opportunities to race at NCAA-sanctioned courses such as Belmont Plateau and Lehigh University.

Head coach Corinne Dionne has been leading the team since 2013, and health and wellness are infused in every aspect of the coaching program. Her coaching is grounded in real-world experience as a previous Division 1 cross-country athlete as well as the science-based approaches of motivational interviewing, appreciative coaching, compassionate communication, and positive psychology.
