SCH Academy Athletic Hall of Fame

During his years at CHA, Ibraheim Campbell ’10 was captain of the football team, for which he played running back and defensive back, and was also captain of the track team. He was Inter-Academic League MVP during his senior year in 2009, 1st Team All-League and All-City in the 2008-2009 season, and All-State in 2009. He was one of the Daily News City Football Players of the Year in 2009 and also named to the Daily News All-Decade team. He is the school record holder for rushing yards in a single season and second in Inter-Ac history with 1885 yards and, in total, finished with 3,957 yards rushing and 52 touchdowns. Additionally, Ibraheim still holds the school records for Track and Field in the 110 and 300 meter hurdle events, as well as the 4x200 meter relay. Ibraheim also received the J.L Patterson Cup, which is awarded to the top senior athlete in the class. 

One of the top recruits in the state, he went on to play college football at Northwestern University and was a four year starter. He was selected to the freshman All-American team in 2011. He was also awarded an All-Big Ten team Honorable Mention in 2013 and named to the All-Big Ten second team in 2014. 

In 2015, Ibraheim was drafted in the fourth round of the NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns. During his second season he became a starter, and during his six-year career he went on to play for six other NFL Teams.

Rashad Campbell ’08 was a four-year varsity letter winner and member of the football and indoor and outdoor track and field teams at CHA, and was named captain of all three teams his senior year. He was recognized as a 1st Team All Inter-Ac and 1st Team All-City selection in 2006 and 2007 for his excellent performances in football. Additionally, he was honored as the 2007 football Inter-Ac MVP and Philadelphia Daily News Player of the Year and was awarded the 2008 CHA Father’s Award for his outstanding dedication to his team and the Academy. He was also awarded the Mini-Maxwell award as one of the top 50 high school players in Southern PA & NJ in both his junior and senior year. Rashad finished his CHA football career with 4,204 yards rushing and 65 total touchdowns.    

Rashad went on to play football at Cornell University where he was a four-year starter. During his senior year, he was selected to the All-Ivy first team and also set an Ivy League record for most kick return yards in a season with 994. He was also third in Ivy League history for kick return yards. In addition to his athletic talents, Rashad was the CHA 2008 Gold Medal award winner, given to a senior who embodies and best exemplifies characteristics of leadership, academic standing, character, and service to Chestnut Hill Academy.

Sean Plunkett ’04 is the only four-time Inter-Ac shot put champion in league history and helped the Blue Devils win the 2001 Inter-Ac track championship.

He was an outstanding all-around athlete at CHA, earning 11 varsity letters over his high school career in football and indoor and outdoor track and field. Sean was named to the All-League 1st team for football during his junior and senior seasons and received the Edward B. Lawless Football Award for his prowess in 2003, as well as the Frederick Strawbridge Claghorn Jr. Trophy during the 2002 season. He was also given the William C. Harper III Track Award for his accomplishments in 2003 and 2004 and the Thatcher Longstreth Track Improvement Award in 2001. During his senior campaign, Sean was given the Tri-Captain award for being named team captain in football and indoor and outdoor track and field, and he was also named team co-MVP. In addition, he was recognized as a top athlete of the senior class in 2004 and was co-awarded the prestigious J. L. Patterson Cup. 

After CHA, Sean attended Millersville University where he received four varsity letters in football and started on the offensive line for three years. He was voted a team captain during his senior year, and earned All-PSAC honors as offensive guard.

Dustin Wilson ’12 is the most decorated runner in CHA/SCH history. He was a cross country and indoor track five-time All American and qualified to compete at the 2011 National Foot Locker Cross Country Championships, running to a 13th place finish in San Diego, CA. That year, he was also All-State and named Athlete of the Year by the Pennsylvania Coaches Association. At Belmont Plateau, he won the PAISAA Independent Schools State Meet in 2010 and 2011, and set the meet record in 2010. Dustin was also honored as the 2012 Gatorade Pennsylvania Boys’ Cross Country Runner of the Year. Over the next two years, he racked up several titles: Indoor State Athlete of the year, All-State for the 3000 meter race, and PAISAA State Champion for the two mile. He was the All-State for Track in 2012, the PAISAA Cross Country champion and held the PAISAA Belmont Course Record in 2010 and 2011. Wilson remains the school record holder for the 800, 1600, 3000, 3200, 5000 meter races as well as the distance medley relay. Dustin continues to hold the 3200 meter record for the Inter-Ac with a time of 9:33.80. In 2012, Dustin received the J. L. Patterson Cup, which is awarded to the top senior athlete.

He attended Columbia University and was a member of the Lions’ cross county, indoor and outdoor track teams, which were ranked in the top 10 in NCAA Division I at the time.

The 1978 men’s varsity soccer team was Inter-Ac Champions with a record of 6-1-1. After a shaky 0-1-1 start, with a tie with Haverford School and a loss to Episcopal, the defending champs, the team ran off six straight wins to take the crown. The 3-0 win over EA was a crucial step in the championship stretch and featured THE SAVE by goalkeeper Marc Moss on a penalty kick. This team was a perfect blend of multi-talented athletes who overcame early season adversity and dedicated themselves to hard work and unselfish team play. 

The team was a great balance of strong defense: goalkeepers John O’Neill and Marc Moss; defenders John Harris, Joe Maher, and Sam Millington; midfielders Terry McLaughlin, Pat O’ Donnell, Michael, and Scott Wolf; strikers Jim Poff, Jeff Rickenbach, and Chris Stulb. Depth and support were provided by Jeff Beck, Steve Connolly, and Mike Longfellow. Numerous players garnered individual All-League and All-State accolades. The coaching staff consisted of head coach Jim Talbot H ‘81 and assistants Mike Disston ‘69 & Greg Myers.
 
By season’s end, CHA was co-ranked as the No.1 team in southeast PA along with Haverford High School whom CHA defeated 1-0 earlier in the season.

Taylor Ellis-Watson Washington ‘11 was the 2011 PA indoor and outdoor track state champion and named a 2011 All-American for indoor track while at Springside. That year, Taylor was the Pennsylvania Classic Champion. During her freshman and senior year, she placed first at the state conference meets in the 100, 200, and 400 meter races, and during her junior year, she placed first in the 400 meter dash. Taylor broke the school record in the 200 and 400 meter dashes, as well as the 4x400 meter relay.

Taylor went on to the University of Pittsburgh where she was named All-American and All-Big East, qualified for the NCAA indoor championships in the 400 meter dash, and broke the 400 meter and 4x400 meter relay records for indoor track. During her sophomore year, she transferred to the University of Arkansas and aided the Razorbacks to the 2015 NCAA team title with two runner-up finishes in the 400 meter dash and 4x400 meter relay. She was a four-time outdoor All-American in the 400 meter and 4x400 meter relay. In 2015, Taylor was the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Outdoor Champion and outdoor First Team All-SEC in the 400 meter. She was an Indoor First Team selection for the All-SEC 4x400 meter relay, four-time NCAA Indoor Runner-Up, five-time Indoor All-American in the 400 meter and 4x400 meter, and two-time SEC Indoor Champion in the 400 meter and 4x400 meter relay. In 2016, she was named to the Indoor All-SEC First Team (400 meter), and she was the SEC Indoor Co-Scholar Athlete of the Year.

In 2016, Taylor was selected to represent the United States at the Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where her team won the gold medal in the 4x400 meter relay.

Jennifer Sager ’12 was captain and MVP as a senior for the Springside crew team in 2012, winning gold in the single scull at the Scholastic National Championship Regatta that year. She also won gold in the single at City Championships and silver at the Stotesbury Regatta in 2012. Additionally, she won a bronze as a sophomore in the quad at Scholastic Nationals, a gold medal in the lightweight eight at Canadian Henley, silver in the single at the US National U-23 Time Trials, and a bronze in the quad at the club national championships as a member of the Vesper Boat Club in the summer of 2012. 

Jen continued her crew career at Trinity College, rowing the No. 1 seat for the NCAA National Champion varsity eight crew at the NCAA Division III Championships and for the first varsity eight that finished third and won a bronze medal at the ECAC National Invitational Collegiate Regatta. 

She was a Head of the Charles Champion in 2012 and a medalist in 2013 and 2014. Jen also competed in England at the Women’s Henley Regatta in 2013. She represented the U.S. National Team in the Lightweight double at the U23 World Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria in 2015. She represented the Lightweight quad at the Senior World Championships in Florida and the Lightweight coxless pair at the Senior World Championships Plovdiv, Bulgaria in 2018. 

Jen has worked as an assistant rowing coach at SCH, University of Oxford, Middlebury College, and the Buckingham, Browne, and Nichols School. 

Brielle White ’02 is a seven-time All-American backstroker, a two-time Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Swimmer of the Year, a four time Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Champion in the 100 meter backstroke, and a three-time ACC Champion in the 200 meter backstroke. 

When Brielle attended Springside, there was no formal swim program, but that didn’t stop her from pursuing her passion. She represented Springside at the Eastern Championships and Inter-Ac League Champs. In 1998, she took third place in the 100 yard backstroke and in 1999, she took first place in the 100 yard backstroke. In 2001 and 2002, she also took first place in the 100 yard backstroke. 

Brielle went on to the University of Virginia, where she won the 2004 Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Swimming and Diving Championship. She broke the ACC record, meet record and pool record in both 100 yard backstroke and 200 yard backstroke.  At the 2005 Division I Women’s Swimming and Diving NCAA Championships, she was named an All-American in the 100 yard backstroke event and Honorable Mention in the 200 yard backstroke event. Brielle also competed at the 2004 USA Olympic Swim Team Trials in which she placed fourth in the 100 meter backstroke. During the 2005-2006 season, she was named the UVA female athlete of the year and was inducted into the UVA athletic Hall of Fame in 2019.
