Lower School for Boys New Media

collaborative instruction

The new media curriculum for boys begins in 4th grade with an introduction to Scratch programming, presentation and animation software, iMovie for storytelling, and 3D design and modeling. New media is introduced to our younger students within the context of their regular K through 4th grade curriculum and team taught by New Media or Art Department faculty and homeroom teachers. In addition to Scratch, some of this collaborative instruction includes Aurasma virtual reality software for interactive presentations, LEGO WeDo programming (robotics), and iPad presentations using the Explain Everything App, Book Creator App, or ShowMe App. These skills are taught in grades Pre-K through 4th grade.
