The SCH girls’ squash team has enjoyed a long tradition of very competitive teams. Over the years, the school has seen some of its teams rise to the top level of high school squash in the country. Some of the players on these teams have competed admirably on the U.S. National team in international competitions.
Each November when the squash season begins, upwards of 35 girls come out to the combined 10 international courts at SCH to try out for the Upper School teams. Once the teams are made up, matches get underway in the very competitive Inter-Ac and MASA Leagues, widely considered to be two of the strongest leagues in the country.
When February rolls around, the team participates in the annual MASA team championships, followed by the High School Nationals.
Whether our teams are winning or losing, the coaches have always stressed the importance of fair play. As a whole, the SCH girls’ team is always at or near the top of the list for the Team Sportsmanship Award. It is a goal of the coaches to make sure the girls enjoy squash as a lifetime sport. Whether they plan on continuing their squash career on a college club or varsity team, our hope is that they will enjoy the sport of squash throughout their adult lives.
