Alumnus of the Year: Brendan Flatow ’94
The Alumnus of the Year Award, intended to be given annually, is awarded to an alumnus for outstanding service to the association or to CHA. While not restricted to contributions made during the year in which it is given, that was its original intent, with exceptions made on occasion to recognize service and contributions to the school over a period of time.
Brendan Flatow is a 1994 graduate of Chestnut Hill Academy and president of the CHA Alumni Association since 2012. Over the past four years as president, Brendan has been instrumental in enabling the Alumni Association to once again become a positive contributor to the SCH community. Driven by his passion for the traditions of Chestnut Hill Academy, as well as the memories from his time as a student, Brendan has worked tirelessly and spent countless hours discussing how traditions such as Patch Day, Blue & Blue Day, and Homecoming are invaluable to the SCH school experience for future students.
In addition, Brendan is constantly seeking ways to better strengthen the alumni network involvement through athletics and on-campus events. To do so, Brendan is on the Hall of Fame Committee and the Athletic Committee, which is working in liaison with the athletic directors, admissions, and faculty and staff. He is Blue and Blue, through and through!
SCH’s mission statement says that the school “educates students to be innovative leaders, breakthrough thinkers, and imaginative problem solvers,” and these are the exact ideals that Brendan has brought to the Alumni Association over the past four years. Matt Paul, CHA Class of 1994, says that “Brendan is intensely loyal and has a true love for the school. … He was my buddy back in the day when I first came to CHA and he’s been my friend every since.” Ladies and gentlemen, the 2016 Alumnus of the Year, Brendan Flatow.
