In May 2020, SCH Academy's Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership (CEL) hosted its very first virtual showcase of student projects within our sophomore Capstone curriculum. These innovative products, nonprofits, apps, services, and more were developed as a means to solve real-world problems—and were even prototyped for the showcase! When the pandemic hit, our school was tested to take our traditionally in-person showcase event and make it virtual.
This spring, May 2022, we returned with a new group of Capstone students, creative and thought-provoking projects, and gave them a chance to win our CEL's People's Choice Award. The showcase voting was open for 32-hours. We had 937 visitors to the site to vote for their "favorite" project and our CEL faculty determined which projects received one of the prestigious CEL and studio awards.
Thanks to all who voted, participated, and supported our young entrepreneurs!
These students came to CEL last year asking to start their project already. They began renovating the greenhouse in the Math building to grow their vegetables and learn about healthy eating. The idea grew and evolved into wanting to alleviate food desserts: a beautifully transformed SEPTA trolley car into a micro-greenhouse that would allow commuters to grab a bag of produce and enjoy their surroundings while commuting everyday. I love the passion and enthusiasm these students have had the entire semester and hope that they continue to make their idea a reality. | GREENLINE GREENHOUSE
