performing arts book drive for horizons

The 2025-2026 SCH Theater season celebrates the power of literature—bringing to life stories that transport, transform, and connect—our students are extending that spirit beyond the stage. Through Stages & Stories: Performing Arts Gives Back, they’re using their voices to share the joy of reading and storytelling with Horizons at SCH students, helping young learners discover new worlds through books.

This Performing Arts Book Drive for Horizons is made possible through a special partnership with booked. in Chestnut Hill, owned by Debbie Gress Jansen—a Springside Alumna ’87, CHA Honorary Alumna ’16, SCH Parent ’18, ’20, and cherished SCH educator for 21 years. Debbie’s enduring connection to both literature and SCH Theater—as a former Director of Players, Middle School Drama Director, and Lower School Language Arts teacher and drama support—makes this collaboration especially meaningful.

Stages & Stories is a perfect example of how the power of a story can bring a community together to inspire change. I’m deeply grateful to see my two greatest passions—books and theater—intertwine so beautifully.”

Through programs like Stages & Stories, Theater at SCH empowers students to discover their voices, share their creativity, and explore their ideas, and use the power of storytelling to be changemakers on and off the stage."
