Gift of  Stock
While SCH Academy welcomes gifts of cash, there can be a more tax-beneficial way to gift larger amounts. Donating appreciated securities is a win-win for donors and charities. The two key advantages:
  1. Any long-term appreciated securities with unrealized gains (meaning they were purchased over a year ago and have a current value greater than their original cost) may be donated to a public charity and a tax deduction taken for the full fair market value of the securities—up to 30% of the donor’s adjusted gross income.
  2. Since the securities are donated rather than sold, capital gains taxes from selling the securities no longer apply. The more appreciation the securities have, the greater the savings will be.
Please be sure to consult an attorney or tax advisor regarding your specific legal or tax situation.
To transfer stock, you will need the following information:

DTC Participant #: 0221
SCH Academy Account:  VQ-23558
Tax ID #23-1352681
UBS Financial Services Inc.
101 West Elm Street
Suite 200
Conshohocken, PA 19428-2006

IRA Distribution
Tax laws allow donors to make a distribution from an IRA to a charitable organization without being taxed. However, your donation must be a direct transfer from your IRA to the charity and it must be completed by 12/31 of the current year.

Make a Planned Gift
The Heritage Society (the school's planned giving society) was established to recognize and promote the benefits of bequests, life-income gifts, and other tax-wise giving arrangements.

Planned gifts may take the form of any of the following:
  • Bequests
  • Retirement Assets (IRAs)
  • Charitable Gift Annuities
  • The Pooled Income Fund
  • Charitable Lead Trust
  • Charitable Remainder Trust
  • Gifts of Appreciated Securities
  • Gifts of Real Estate
Thank you for considering a planned gift. You may wish to discuss your situation with legal and tax advisers to determine the most advantageous and appropriate gift according to your circumstances. Please contact Jenny McHugh so that she can assist you.

Memorial Gift
Each year SCH receives many gifts in memory of alumni, students, parents, and other friends of the school. When memorial gifts are received, the Development Office notifies the next of kin and credits the gift appropriately. If making a memorial/honorary donation by mail, please include the name and address of the person(s) to receive an acknowledgement of the donation; if making a donation online, please include the contact information in the comments section.
Recurring Giving at SCH
Your support for SCH can be automatic! Set up a recurring gift to make an impact that will work with your budget and schedule.

How does making a recurring gift work?
You can set up your gift one time and it will automatically charge your credit card or deduct from your bank account.
    • Amount: select the amount of each payment
    • Frequency: select monthly, quarterly, or yearly
    • Duration: select an end date or keep it open-ended

Why should you consider making a recurring gift?
    • It’s cost-effective and efficient. It cuts down on the amount of mail and phone calls you receive from SCH.
    • It creates a reliable source of annual fund support to SCH.
    • A recurring gift enables you to turn small donations into larger gifts over time.
