SCH students delivered an outstanding performance at the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Sciences (PJAS) regional science fair last Saturday, with 34 of the 46 participating students earning “First Awards.” This impressive achievement qualifies these students to advance to the prestigious PJAS state science fair, scheduled for May. The students presented a wide range of research projects, demonstrating their dedication to scientific inquiry and innovation. Several 2nd-year PJAS attendees in 10th, 11th, and 12th grade completed their projects completely independently, outside of class time, including Sky Matta, “Chasing the Sun: Exploring Analemmas;” Claire Lynch, “Radio is Stellar;” Jude Hackford, “Pushing Camera Limits for Near-Space Balloon Videography;” and Quinn Seawright, “Chitosan and Cellulose Scaffolding and Probiotics as Chronic Wound Treatments”
The First Award recipients showcased exceptional talent and rigorous scientific methodology, earning high marks from the judges. A complete list of the winning students is below. Congrats, students; we’ll be cheering you on during the state competition!
