Senior Brendan Flatow Named MVP in National Broadcast Awards

Senior Brendan Flatow has been named Best Production MVP in the 2025 National High School Broadcast Awards, a prestigious competition sponsored by Media Mascot that recognizes the best in high school broadcasting across the country. After two weeks of national voting in March, he earned the top honor, emerging as MVP over students from much larger schools and school districts. His student-run sports media channel, GameTime Sports, was also nominated in four of five award categories, including Best School-run Broadcast Team, Event of the Year, and Play/Call of the Year.

What began as a sophomore Capstone project through SCH’s Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership (CEL) has grown into a full-scale operation with over 50 students involved. GameTime Sports now boasts two full broadcasting setups—complete with professional-level equipment, instant replay systems, and multiple cameras—alongside a commentary booth, Game Day graphics, and a thriving Instagram account with over 700 followers.

The student-run network provides year-round coverage of every SCH sport, offering live broadcasts on Hudl.TV, as well as pre-game, halftime, and post-game shows with interviews, hype videos, and highlight reels. Collectively, GameTime’s social media and YouTube content have reached over 750,000 views.

Among Flatow’s proudest moments is capturing classmate Keni Williams’ viral half-court buzzer-beater, viewed more than 30,000 times, and his memorable play-by-play of this year’s fan-favorite “silent night” basketball game.

“My experience with GameTime Sports taught me so much,” Flatow shared. “I learned about broadcasting, but also how to run a business, lead a team, and navigate advanced technology. Most of all, I got to connect with so many great people along the way.”

Ed Glassman, Director of CEL, praised Flatow’s leadership: “Over the past decade, many students have pursued sports broadcasting through CEL. Few have matched the scale and quality of what Brendan has accomplished. He’s helped build what we believe is one of the region’s premier high school broadcasting programs.”

With spring sports in full swing, fans can follow GameTime coverage live on Hudl.TV or catch highlights on Instagram and YouTube at @gametime.sports. As Flatow prepares for graduation and his final season on the SCH baseball team, he is passing the torch to a talented group of underclassmen leaders: Roman Bostick ’26, Sam Bevan ’27, Quin Dion ’26, Oliver Yespy ’26, and Jadon Hall ’28.

“I hope GameTime continues to be a platform for athletes to showcase their talents, for fans to stay connected, and for future broadcasters to find their voice—just like I did,” Flatow said.
