MG's Artist Statement:

I started taking photos in middle school and immediately developed a passion for the art. I loved being able to capture moments in time, and to use the surrounding elements to convey a specific message or catch a mood that would translate to the viewer. While I enjoyed photography as a hobby, it took meeting Pete Capano, my high school photography instructor, to begin thinking of myself as an artist. After the last four years, I’ve had the opportunity to study under Pete Capano and was able to improve my technique, cultivate my own style, and transform my casual hobby into a passion of mine. For my senior wall, I decided to select eight of my pieces to commemorate my time here as both a student and artist. Although all of my pieces are important to me, these ten have been key to my development as a photographer. Some helped me find my footing and recognize my love for the arts, and some have won National and Regional awards though the Scholastic Art Awards program. Through the Scholastic Art awards the following pieces have been recognized: Chicago ‘18, Angelina ‘19, and Richmond Series ‘21 have won Philadelphia Regional Silver Key awards and Pomona ‘18 has been credited with a National Competition Honorable Mention. I am very proud of the work I’ve done the past four years and hope to continue to pursue photography in the future. Thank you Pete Capano and SCH Academy for allowing me to pursue my passion.
