Woodmere Showcases Art From Every SCH Middle Schooler

Seventh-grade students took a field trip to the Woodmere Museum to see their work showcased in the first-ever SCH Middle School Art Show at the Helen Millard Children's Gallery. The Flourish art exhibit highlights the vibrant creativity of SCH's middle school artists, drawing inspiration from the natural beauty and diverse life of the nearby Wissahickon Valley.

Through a stunning collection of both two-dimensional and three-dimensional works, students have captured the essence of the Wissahickon’s landscape, native plants and animals, and the intricate web of life that thrives there. The term flourish—to grow or develop healthily and vigorously—reflects both the students’ academic and artistic journeys. Just as the Wissahickon flourishes in its unique environment, SCH’s young artists continue to bloom creatively, developing their talents in ways that mirror the nurturing, protective care we show for our local land. This exhibit is a celebration of growth—both in nature and in the artistic expression of the students who call this area home.

Students were thrilled to see their work on display in a museum setting. "It was very fun to see our artwork in a museum. I love that museum because we got to see all the paintings and learn historical facts about all the pieces in the museum," said Middle Schooler Laila Sylla.

The exhibit is open to the public during Woodmere's normal hours from March 15 to May 11, with a special reception on April 6 from 2-4 PM to celebrate the student artists. All are invited to come and enjoy this incredible showcase of young talent—don’t miss it!
