What to do with your Middle School student this summer?  Summerside Camps has the answer with an expanded line-up for 2021!

As the snow melts, and the page turns to March on kitchen calendars, families with children are likely to begin thinking about summer and what might be feasible for their kids after a school year like no other.

Many families struggle to find interesting options for their Middle School children. This year, Springside Chestnut Hill Academy’s Summerside Camps has gone overboard to provide great programming specifically for kids in grades 5 to 8. There are over a dozen specialty camps just for this age group, each designed to take advantage of the school’s outstanding facilities, including high and low ropes courses, and proximity to the woods.

Another win for families? The school’s fan-favorite day camp, has now added a new group for JUST 5th and 6th graders. They join kids ages 3 and up for 11 fun-filled, theme weeks, including “Super Hero” and “Olympics” weeks.

SCH’s Summerside Camps is one of only a few camps in the area to open their doors during COVID last year and was named Philly Families 2020 BEST Day Camp Director of SCH’s Summer Programs Laura Cortes says, “We got this!  We were so successful in 2020, we feel certain that our policies and procedures will bring families a sense of confidence and security. We are really looking forward to welcoming to campus the many students who have had to go through a really challenging school year. Let’s give them some fun!”

Drawing on the diverse talents of the SCH faculty, the new camp offerings include the Magic of the Mighty Microprocessor with Peter Randall, the coach/mentor for the school's world champion robotics team, and an Intro to Sneaker Design with the Center for Entrepreneurial Leadershipss executive director Ed Glassman. Sports, pottery, photography, theater, video and animation production, round out the many Summerside options.  And all campers benefit from the abundance of creative playspaces and shaded trails. “We are so lucky,” Cortes says, “to be located where we are, right on the edge of the Wissahickon. We know that parents are eager for their children to get outside and explore the natural world during the summer months.  We are able to ensure that happens every day.”

The camp has made it especially easy for families living at a distance to take advantage of the school 62-acre urban suburban campus with door-to-door, private transportation service through a partnership with: Shuttlebee.

There are only 100 days until summer! Check out Springside Chestnut HIll Academy’s Summerside Camps full line-up for kids of all ages @ www.sch.org/summerside-camps.
