Two SCH Seniors Turn Artistic Passion into Purpose

Two SCH Seniors Turn Artistic Passion into Purpose

For SCH seniors Chloe Hanson and Adina Jeremiah, the arts have been a powerful launchpad for self-discovery. By seeking out unique creative experiences on campus, from the ceramics studio to diversity leadership, both students have paved the way for their bright futures.

For Hanson, a deep dive into the school’s vibrant arts community has inspired a career path in the art world. Hanson plans to continue her creative journey at Penn State, with a focus on museum studies.

“I was inspired primarily by working with the art faculty, specifically Bridget, my ceramics teacher, who taught me everything I know about art," said Hanson. "I’m so excited to be able to access the ceramics studio at Penn State. I did an internship at a museum last summer, and became absolutely fascinated with every aspect of art curation. SCH has truly been such a welcoming place that has fostered an amazing creative community."

Meanwhile, Jeremiah, who will attend the University of Southern California's School (USC) of Cinematic Arts to study writing for screen and television, found that her artistic voice as a filmmaker was amplified by her leadership roles outside the traditional studio space, particularly through her advocacy work on campus.

“I’ve wanted to be a filmmaker for as long as I can remember,” said Jeremiah. “An experience at SCH that kindled my need to create was my time being a part of DEI Council and Student Facilitators. Being able to advocate for my peers, speak up for people who feel unheard, promote topics I care about, and learn to conduct thoughtful dialogue on hard topics made me extremely confident in my voice and really helped me learn to be authentically myself, which is a necessity in art. Whether it is in DEI and Facilitators or film, I hope to use my voice to enact positive change in the world, promoting kindness and shedding light on people who feel unheard, unseen, or underrepresented.”

She is looking forward to learning from USC professors and alumni, and surrounding herself with students who share her deep passion for film.

These two seniors demonstrate that the arts at SCH are ultimately about finding your true voice and using it to pave your own way.
