Juniors Win Awards at Prestigious Delaware Valley Science Fair 

Out of more than 900 competitors from Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey, and Delaware, three SCH juniors distinguished themselves with top-tier finishes at the Delaware Valley Science Fair (DVSF) on April 1. The annual event, recognized as one of the most rigorous science competitions in the United States, challenges students in grades 6 through 12 to present original research with the potential for real-world impact. This year’s honorees stood out among a crowded field of high-caliber projects, earning their place among the region's elite young scientists.

The following students were recognized for their outstanding performances:

Tristyn Howard '27: Effects of Fragment Size and Material Type on Bacterial Colonization in Aquatic Environments

This award honors dedication, curiosity, and innovative approaches to science, distinguishing its winners as emerging leaders in the student scientific community. Each winner will receive $100 and a premium Admit IQ subscription to support their future research endeavors.

Honorable Mention in Microbiology Category and American Society for Microbiology - Eastern PA Specialty Award, High School Division Winner
Richard Jiacheng Li '27: Probiotics-Derived Extracellular Vesicles Suppress Biofilm Development of Common Pathogenic Bacteria

The Specialty Award honors outstanding projects related to the field of microbiology. It also recognizes the teacher of our Division winners for encouraging the students’ research. 

Each Division Winner will receive a certificate and a $200 gift card.
