Team 1218 Takes Second on Home Turf

And the crowd goes wild! Team 1218 and their robot, Stinger, placed second at this past weekend's FIRST Mid-Atlantic Robotics Regional Competition (watch a video from the tournament here) held at SCH. This places the team four out of 151 in the Mid-Atlantic Region, and they will go on to compete at Lehigh University for the district championship. Head of School Delvin Dinkins welcomed teams from the region to SCH at the start of the competition, recognizing the energy in the room, fueled by a love for STEM and engineering. Eighteen SCH alumni, including team mentors, were also there to support 1218 and help “charge up” the SCH spirit!

Because of their ranking, Team 1218 earned the opportunity to be the second alliance captain at the event at Vare Field House, which enabled them to extend invitations to other teams to join their alliance. They also won the quality award, one of FIRST's awards for quality workmanship and ability to “withstand the rigors of competition,” according to the guidelines.
