Sustainability Focused: Earth Month Highlights

Although we consider EVERY month Earth Month at SCH (read some of our favorite recent Earth stories on Maplesmicroplastics, and coming up with solutions for excess plastic in the cafeteria), students have been focused on sustainability this April! Several Lower School classes have been participating in the Clean Earth Challenge whose goal is to “collect one million pieces of trash and debris that litter our beautiful land, oceans, and waterways.”

In addition, the Middle School Eco Club is helping to promote environmental awareness during Earth Month. Three students directed and five interviewed their peers and teachers to produce a documentary on climate change. They asked tough questions from, "If you had to describe the climate crisis to an alien, what would you say?" to "Who, in your opinion, is causing global warming and who, in your opinion, is being affected by it?" Hear what they had to say about saving our Earth, here. Thanks for spreading the word, Amelia, Tori, and Chloe.

Students will also be planting tree seedlings in the woods, coming up with solutions for erosion on the playgrounds, and, within the next few weeks, installing decals on windows to prevent bird strikes.

Happy #EarthMonth!
