SCH's Lance Ramer Inducted into University of Rochester Athletic Hall of Fame

SCH teacher and coach Lance Ramer was inducted into the University of Rochester Athletic Hall of Fame on September 19 for his phenomenal football career.

A 2001 graduate of Rochester, Ramer was an "award-winning defensive mainstay," helping the Yellowjackets significantly improve their record during his tenure. He still holds multiple all-time school records, including all-time sack leader, and ranks first in career tackles for loss yardage, yards from sacks, and fumble recoveries. His collegiate excellence was further cemented by six career All-League honors and being named to three different All-America teams as a senior.

Beyond his legendary playing days, Ramer has built an impressive coaching resume that includes being named “Coach of the Year” four times. His background includes successful tenures at Blair Academy, Riverdale (where his team produced the best record in a decade), and Tallahassee (where he is the winningest coach in school history). Notably, he also took a struggling program at MKA to the brink of a state championship appearance.

At SCH, Ramer is an integral part of the community, serving as an Upper School math teacher and instructor of Cultivating Leadership through CEL. He is also a Student Resource Center instructor, advisor, and brings his expertise to our courts and fields as a Middle School basketball and baseball coach, and he runs the Multi-Sport Spectacular camp at Summerside.

More about Ramer’s Football Career
As a two-time captain at the University of Rochester, Ramer was a Conference Champion, earned National Player of the Week honors (setting a D-III record with 5 sacks and 23 tackles against Carnegie Mellon), and participated in the National All Star Game. Lance dominates the U of R record books, holding the No. 1 career spot in four categories, including QB Sacks (29) and Fumbles Recovered (9), and appears repeatedly in the NCAA D-III national record books for both single-game and season performance. Lance played four seasons of indoor professional football for the Rochester Brigade of the AFL2 and NY/NJ Revolution of the CIFL. He is currently the defensive and special teams coordinator at Neumann Goretti, where he produced the No. 1 Defense in 2024, and most recently, they won the 3A PCL Championship. Watch for them in the City Championship on November 8.
