SCH's HBCU Showcase Connects Families with College Opportunities

On Sunday, February 23, College Counseling, our Upper School Black Student Union (BSU), and the Diversity Parent Resource Network (DPRN) hosted the 3rd annual Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Showcase, providing Black families from SCH and peer schools an opportunity to explore a wide array of HBCUs.

The showcase captured the vibrant spirit of the HBCU experience with performances, panel discussions, and direct interaction with admissions representatives. Terrance Hart, a Morgan State University alumnus, opened the event with a powerful rendition of “Lift Every Voice.” A dynamic step show, featuring two SCH parents and members of Zeta Phi Beta, followed.

SCH parents and alumni, representing Tuskegee University, Hampton University, Howard University, Morehouse College, and Florida A&M University, participated in an engaging and informative panel discussion led by BSU leadership, during which they shared reflections on the unique opportunities HBCUs present to their students as well as the ways in which their respective universities positioned them for their future successes. Following the panel, students connected with admissions representatives from 15 HBCUs and participated in trivia games led by SCH’s Upper School BSU.
