SCHer Ranks in Top 5 Percent Nationally in American Mathematics Competition

SCH is celebrating a standout performance by Izefia Yin ’27, who recently placed in the top 5 percent of participants in the American Mathematics Competition (AMC). Competing against a field of 20,447 students from 1,840 schools nationwide, Yin earned a remarkable score of 136.5 out of 150. Her performance more than doubled the national average of 64.44, securing her a spot in the next prestigious round of the competition.

The AMC is the leading K–12 math competition, engaging over 300,000 students globally. By participating, students in 50 states and 30 countries build the confidence and passion necessary to excel in mathematics.

“Izefia’s score isn’t just a reflection of her talent, but of her incredible discipline. To more than double the national average on a test as rigorous as the AMC requires a level of focus and mathematical intuition that is rare to see. We are thrilled to see her hard work recognized on a national stage,” says Upper School math teacher Ian Kreher.

Yin’s success at the competition marks a significant milestone in her pursuit of becoming a top finisher in the Math Olympiad. She’ll move on to the next exam in February. Wish her luck! We are #SCHproud!
