SCH Students Perform at the Kimmel Center

Cellists Vincent, 3rd grade, and Cassia, 9th grade, performed at The Philadelphia Youth Orchestra’s (PYO) annual showcase held at the Kimmel Center on Sunday, February 26. The Philadelphia Youth Orchestra is regarded as one of the best youth orchestras in the United States. The various ensembles encompassed within the PYO Music Institute range in age from 6 to 21 years, and students are selected from Philadelphia and our surrounding regions by audition.

According to PYO Music Institute, students are challenged to perform at a high level, building skill and musicianship, and have the opportunity to perform at prestigious venues alongside professional soloists and members of the Philadelphia Orchestra. Two of our esteemed music faculty members, Katie Bechtold (Middle and Upper School strings and orchestra) and Annie Givler (Lower and Middle school strings), also work for the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra.
