SCH Student Launches a Covid-19 Business

We are so proud of rising 11th grade student, Nia Hodges, from the Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership's (CEL) Social Impact Studio. Nia has smartly pivoted her business, The Real Tea, and launched a subscription service — a curated beverage (tea/coffee) subscription box that partners with local beverage companies.

"Small businesses are the very pillars in our communities that allow us to be together," Nia says. "Think about that one coffee shop you love, or that one bakery where you always felt warm and welcome. Think about all the memories you’ve enjoyed at local businesses that are now feeling extreme financial stress."

Each month, Nia interviews a new company to hear “the Real Tea” on how COVID-19 is treating their business and then posts the interview on the company's website. Samples from that company will be sent to subscribers, and the profit will go back to the beverage company to help them manage their business during these difficult times.

Want to help our local beverage businesses? Follow these steps:

  1. Check her website and watch her monthly interview with a local business in the Philly area.
  2. Sign up for a limited edition 3-month subscription service in which you will receive tea and coffee samples from that local business.

Note: After signing up, your $40 per month will be donated to these local businesses to help them thrive during COVID-19 (total of $120 for starting subscription).

The first two companies Nia is highlighting: Reveal Tea (Avocado Seed Tea) & Topos Teas (tea made for gut health).

Best of luck on this chapter of your project, Nia!
