French Students Top National Contest with 11 Medals and 8 Certificates

SCH Academy is celebrating a stellar performance by its Level 1 French students, who brought home 11 medals and 8 certificates from the 2026 National French Contest (Le Grand Concours).

Out of 19 SCH students participating, a remarkable 11 earned podium finishes:

  • 3 Gold medals
  • 6 Silver medals
  • 2 Bronze medals

An additional 5 students received Honorable Mention certificates, and 3 earned Certificates of Merit.

The achievement is particularly impressive given the scale of the competition. Sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French (AATF), this year’s 91st annual contest saw over 46,000 total participants, including 11,159 Level 1 students from all 50 states and abroad. The rigorous exam challenged students on their French grammar, vocabulary, and reading and listening comprehension.

"Their performance reflects not only strong academic ability but also the kind of work ethic, creativity, and resourcefulness we strive to cultivate in all our language learners here at SCH," said SCH teacher Oumar Watt, commending the students for standing out on a global stage.
