On May 23, student musicians from SCH’s Upper School traveled to Hershey, where they earned Superior ratings in the prestigious Music in the Parks Festival. Representing SCH were the Upper School Honors ensembles, Jazz Band, Chamber Ensemble, Hilltones, and Laurelei—four of the school’s top instrumental and vocal groups.
The festival, which draws school ensembles from across the United States and Canada, is known for its emphasis on musical excellence and education. Each group performs for a panel of adjudicators—renowned conductors and music educators—who evaluate the performances and provide detailed feedback.
All four SCH ensembles earned Superior ratings, the highest possible honor, in recognition of their outstanding performances. In addition to their scores, the ensembles received glowing comments from adjudicators, who praised their musicianship, technique, and stage presence.
Music in the Parks is designed to provide students with valuable performance experience while promoting musical growth and collaboration. The program’s mission is to foster achievement and recognition for both individual performers and school music programs.
"Our students’ success at the festival is a reflection of their hard work, talent, and passion—as well as the unwavering dedication of our music program faculty," said Megan Monaghan, director of Arts.
