SCH Chess Team Holding First Place Following PAPSCL Tournament

SCH Academy’s chess team maintained the first-place ranking status after hosting the second of seven Philadelphia Area Private Schools Chess League (PAPSCL) tournaments this past weekend. 

SCH medals awarded were: Christian Ryerson 2-0 (Gold); Shervin Medizad 2-0 (Gold); Andrew Jones 1.5-.5 (Silver); Ryan Medizad 1-0 (Bronze); Mazzie Notash 1-1 (Bronze); and Aiden Zamani 1-1 (Bronze).

PAPSCL team scores (cumulative after two events):1st SCH 13.5/16; 2nd GFS 11/16; 3rd TPS 4.5/16; 4th FSS 3.5/16; 5th Erdenheim 2/16; 6th Greenfield 1.5/16; and 7th Haverford 1/16.

Chess tournaments are hosted by coach Ross Colby at SCH Academy on select Saturdays during the academic year, with opportunities for chess players of ALL levels to compete with peers from other local schools. More information and registration may be found here.
