SCH Chess Dominates

On November 16, SCH hosted the third Philadelphia Area Private School Chess League (PAPSCL) tournament of the academic year where SCH dominated, retaining its first-place standing in the League. This past weekend, six SCH chess players participated in the United States Chess Congress chess tournament held at the Lowe’s Hotel in Philadelphia where they collectively won 21 of 36 games. Our 4th-6th graders often faced opponents much older or more experienced yet SCH players collectively gained approximately 400 rating points.

Special congratulations to Shervin, 4th grade, for placing 5th in the Under 600 section; Ryan, 6th grade, for placing 3rd in the Under 800 section; and Kellan, 4th grade, for gaining 60 points in the particularly challenging Under 1400 section. Register for upcoming 2024-25 PAPSCL tournaments here.
