During his time at SCH, Sam Miller has studied film and music in our New Media courses and has also been an active member of Upper School Players. Currently one of our Players co-presidents, Sam played Peter Pan in Lost Girl this fall and was most recently seen as the Mysterious Man in our Players spring musical, Into the Woods!
In the summer 2021, he pursued academic classes online through an online course at NYU’s highly-selective Tisch School in game design where he won “most creative execution” of a board game that he created. It was through this program that Sam discovered his passion for 3-D modeling and animation. He continued his studies last summer through a program at UCLA.
Sam is headed to NYU Tisch School of the Arts to study Collaborative Arts. He produced an impressive portfolio of artwork to apply to the program (which only admits 40 students per year in a cohort), including this video about a tennis match between brothers. Sam plans to focus primarily on film and music, but he is excited to see what NYU has to offer in terms of emerging technology and media.
Sam says, “I will lose track of time while making songs or videos and hours feel like minutes. SCH has helped and supported me so much over the years to grow into the performer and creator that I am today!"
