The latest episode of FutureCast, the SCH podcast that delves into projects evolving thanks to innovation grants at SCH, features Jess Tiffany, an English teacher and advisor for the Middle School Torch. Tiffany joined FutureCast to discuss the dynamic world of journalism, emphasizing the crucial balance between traditional newspaper values and cutting-edge technology.
"The concept of a newspaper is as old as time, which is what is wonderful about it, and it’s so important to not let it go," Tiffany explained on the podcast. She highlighted the enduring importance of media literacy, particularly in the age of AI, and stressed how innovation lies in "obtaining and using software and materials that can be authentic, that can tell stories of what’s happening, and that meet people where they are with technology.”
Tiffany also underscored the importance of remaining authentic to the profession and using a holistic approach to storytelling that extends beyond just written articles. Four Middle School girls joined the podcast to discuss how they uncover compelling narratives for projects such as "Humans of SCH."
