Four SCHers Win Awards at Amateur Astronomers Competition

Several SCH students earned top honors at this year’s Delaware Valley Amateur Astronomers (DVAA) Youth Awards Competition.

Leo Cohen ’26 and Logan Landau ’26 won third place for their poster on the METEOR Flight Computer. The project also previously took first prize at the Carver Science Fair.

Two students received Honorable Mentions for their research:

  • Ben Barsotti ’28 for "Photographic Analysis of the Sun’s Differential Rotation" (which also won first prize at the PJAS state level).

  • Eneida Chavez-Theiss ’28 for "The Effects of Integration Time and Radio Frequency Band on Pulsar Detectability."

All four students received a full-year membership to the DVAA and an invitation to present their research at an upcoming club meeting. As third-place winners, Cohen and Landau also received a cash prize.
