Domanska Publishes New Children's Book

Longtime SCH Lower School teacher Mary Ann Domanska has published a new picture book, Fabemol Hears the Heart, illustrated by Gabriela Guadalajara.

A story that encourages true listening in a noisy world, Fabemol Hears the Heart focuses on themes of empathy, unseen struggles, and the importance of "tuning in" to more than just words. The book, which promises a rare sense of quietude, invites readers of all ages to slow down and connect with themselves and others.

“I’m especially excited to share this story with my students, past and present, because so much of the inspiration came from being in the classroom and working with children,” says Domanska. “Their curiosity, honesty, and unique ways of seeing the world deeply influenced this book, and I hope Fabemol encourages kids—and all readers—to slow down, listen with their hearts, and connect more fully with one another.”

Domanska published Nge and the Magical Drums: Bringing Rain to the Village this past spring after a grant-funded journey to rural Kenya, Emic Rizzle, Tinkerer, a middle-grade novel, in 2016, and a poetry collection titled Unraveled. She was on the board of Mt. Airy Art Garage for seven years, founded/hosted The Swerve, an open mic poetry event, and is now Vice President on the executive board of The Lemong’o Project, which inspired Nge.

Domanska and Guadalajara will be doing a signing at booked. in Chestnut Hill from 12-2 PM this Saturday, September 27.
