Class of 1957 Artist in Residence Inspires SCH Musicians

Renowned conductor and clinician Dr. Rollo Dilworth, vice dean of the Boyer College of Music and Dance, inspired SCH students this week during a two-day residency as the Class of 1957 Artist in Residence. Working with Lower, Middle, and Upper School choirs, Dr. Dilworth led workshops on his original compositions which the students will perform at students' spring concerts. He also shared warm-up techniques, held a Q&A with our music faculty, and met with several alumnae of the Class of 1957 who helped establish the fund to honor their 50th reunion.

More than 150 of Dilworth’s choral compositions have been published and conducted locally, nationally, and internationally. His choral pedagogy books, Choir Builders, have been widely circulated among elementary, secondary, community, and church choral directors. Dilworth frequently serves as a guest conductor and/or clinician for festival and all-state choirs throughout the United States and abroad.

Class of 1957 Artist in Residence Alumnae

Established by the Class of 1957 in honor of their 50th reunion, this fund pays for someone in either the performing or visual arts to come to Springside annually to work with girls in the Lower, Middle, and Upper Schools, exposing them to diverse styles, methods, and achievements of noted professionals. In addition, if it is appropriate, the artist will speak, perform, or show his or her work in a public capacity—art exhibit, demonstration, musical, or dance performance.
