CEL Students Provide Music Production Enrichment at Horizons at SCH

Horizons at SCH kicked off its first week with excitement and creativity—thanks in large part to a brand-new enrichment activity: Music Production, led by three talented SCH Upper School juniors: Matthew Lee, Ben Swain, and Max Tonkon.

Winners of the Dr. Sands Entrepreneurial Mindset Award following their capstone semester in the Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership (CEL), the trio recently launched their own record label, Hill Entertainment Group. They’re already producing original music, publishing it on streaming platforms, and promoting it independently.

They shared their music production expertise with 4th-grade Horizons students using the app GarageBand. Students explored music theory, rhythm, instrumentation, and digital production. They built their own beats and discovered how to express themselves—just like their favorite artists.

This new enrichment is more than just fun; it’s a vibrant example of SCH’s entrepreneurial spirit in action. By designing and delivering these hands-on lessons, Matthew, Ben, and Max are empowering younger students to think creatively, take risks, and engage with technology in meaningful ways.

As reported in The Campus Lantern, the school’s student newspaper, the team shared:

“This collaboration will not only give us the opportunity to share our love of music but also give kids from all backgrounds the opportunity to dive into one of the world’s most widespread and exciting industries.”

Thank you to Matthew, Ben, and Max for sharing your passion and creativity with our Horizons students!
