Improvements to the multipurpose community hub in the historic heart of the Upper School campus to be ready for the start of the 2023-2024 school year
Construction signs are posted. Hard hats can be spotted behind closed-off areas. And jackhammers are busy. The third and final phase of our Campus Master Plan has begun!
The first part of this project, which will be completed by the start of school, includes enlarging the interior gathering space on the first level of the Commons, building a new fitness and wellness center in the Woodward Gym, and transforming part of the Vare fitness center into a dedicated wrestling space.
The impact of this project on our community will be immediate and profound. Not only will the new Commons allow for our entire Upper School student body to gather, dine and socialize together, it provides our students with the fitness and wellness resources they need to achieve their athletic and wellness goals. There will be areas to study, read, eat, train, compete, perform, relax with friends, and hold meetings and events—both inside and out.
Features of the second phase of the Commons Plan include:
- Upgraded athletic training rooms;
- Upgraded squash facilities;
- Expanded dining hall seating;
- Improved locker rooms; and
- Redesigned exterior courtyard and student space.
Campaign co-chairs, Jess Hayne and Ed McDevitt, share: “We're thrilled to see the support and enthusiasm that our community has shown the Campaign for the Commons! We look forward to working with all of you to attain our total fundraising goal. The impact this project will have on our community will be felt for decades to come.”
