Areté, Diké, Timé | Excellence, Justice, Honor 

The annual Cum Laude Induction Ceremony is a time to recognize and honor members of the junior and senior classes who have distinguished themselves academically at SCH. Across the country, and internationally, ​​there are 382 chapters of the Cum Laude Society dedicated to honoring scholarship, integrity, and the pursuit of excellence in secondary schools. The ceremony that took place last week celebrated 13 newly inducted juniors and 10 newly inducted seniors. They join the ranks of those students inducted as juniors last year.

As is tradition, the members of the senior class select an honorary member of the Upper School faculty to induct each year. This year’s inductee was English teacher Anthea Waleson and last year’s selection, Nancy Craft, provided remarks.

Commenting on the moment's significance, Dr. Dinkins provided the closing message: “Today’s ceremony is not just an honor but a charge. You have committed yourselves to academics and are entrusted with the values that define SCH. Being inducted into the Cum Laude Society acknowledges your past success and charges you with continuing to learn with courage, integrity, and purpose. It is a call to serve, question, and contribute meaningfully to this community and the ones beyond. Moments like today provide inspiration, perspective, and connection and remind us of what is possible. I hope that many years from now, you will look back and recognize it as a kind of threshold, a turning point that affirmed your purpose and deepened your resolve to effect positive change.”
