Annie Gu Expresses Herself in Each Scene

Senior Annie Gu is a pianist, performer, artist, Student Facilitator, and a co-head of the Asian Student Association at SCH. She has experienced a variety of classes in the Arts during her time in Upper School, including drawing and ceramics, and she performs with the Upper School Orchestra and Honors Chamber Ensemble. Looking back on her years here, she says, “One thing I definitely love about SCH is the flexibility that our art courses provided, which allowed me to create a comprehensive understanding of the arts.”

Annie will attend the University of Southern California to pursue a media arts + practice degree in the School of Cinematic Arts. “Since this is a major that combines artistic, societal, and scientific aspects into design, I will have the freedom to explore my interest and passion for art.” She looks forward to joining the Large Format Cinema Club and Makers of Entertaining Games Association which combines her interest in music and sound design into film and game production while at USC.

After her most recent performance in the US Spring Concert, she said, “My favorite part of preparing for performances is closing my eyes and trying to picture the scene each piece of music tells. Even on stage performing "Merry Go Round of Life" with the Chamber Ensemble, I could feel the sway of the grass and the caress of the breeze from this way of musical storytelling.”
