And the Gavel Goes to Betty Ann Fish

We’re jumping (jacks) for Betty Ann (BA) Fish this week! Our very own energizer bunny and P.E. department chair has been handed the gavel to take over the leadership of SHAPE PA (Society of Health & Physical Educators Pennsylvania).

She served as the organization’s president-elect for the last year, and the presentation was made at their annual convention in Seven Springs, PA, which drew P.E. and health educators from around the state.

Betty Ann was recognized by SHAPE America in 2015 with their prestigious National Elementary Physical Education Teacher of the Year which honors educators whose outstanding teaching performance motivates today's youth to adopt healthy and physically active lifestyles.

Here at school, Betty Ann is known and loved for the energy she infuses into all her Lower School classes. She brings it on with creativity and innovation every day! Just ask any of her students about the Heart Adventure Challenge Course which helps students understand how the heart works. Or, a Kindergartener about their alphabet walks where they document on their iPads the items they find that start with the letters of the alphabet

Always finding ways to keep students moving and to provide options, Betty Ann added lap trackers to recess and her latest endeavour was a storybook walk around the playground.

We know you will be instrumental in helping to shape (!) your peers in your new role, BA. Well done! #SCHProud.

Betty Ann is also a member of the SCH wellness team, a Google for Education Certified Innovator, an Apple teacher, Seesaw Certified Educator, and a national trainer for Online Physical Education Network (OPEN). She has taken her presentations on the road at the state, national and international level.
