Alumna, Actor, Activist Profiled in Chestnut Hill Local
Alumna and self-proclaimed "actorist" (actor and activist) Melissa Fitzgerald '83 (above, left) recently costarred alongside Martin Sheen in A.R. Gurney's “Love Letters” in Washington D.C. She had previously starred with Sheen in "The West Wing."
Fitzgerald, who was president of Springside's service organization when she was a student, left Hollywood more than a decade ago to work with RISE, and has also spearheaded various other projects to help others and shine a light on injustices both in the U.S. and abroad. She co-founded a nonprofit for at-risk youth in Los Angeles and co-produced a documentary about a theater program that worked with Ugandan teens affected by the rebel war.
