Curiosity-Led Learning

A Reggio Emilia classroom’s curriculum stems from the particular interests of the children. Curriculum topics are taken from talking with children and their families, as well as from things that are known to be interesting to children (such as this young man in the Laurel class and his love for puzzles). Teachers compare notes and observations in team planning sessions to decide which projects would be best suited to the children in their classes, what materials will be needed, and how they can encourage parents and the community to become involved.

After Leo discovered the rainbow puzzle, the class wanted to put together another puzzle, so they found the Eric Carle Butterfly puzzle and got to work!
