SCH Academy Hires Athletic Director

SCH is thrilled to announce Becca Main, a student-centered leader with over 30 years of experience in collegiate and independent school athletics, as its next Athletic Director.

From a competitive pool of over 180 applicants, Becca rose to the top and was the unanimous choice of the Executive Search Committee. During her campus visit, Becca met with 10 search panels comprising 70 stakeholders, including coaches, faculty, alumni, students, and administrators. The panel feedback was clear: Becca was the top choice, as they were struck by her thoughtful approach and strategic mindset, noting that her decades of experience are matched only by her innovative spirit and clear passion for the work.

“I’m truly honored to join the Springside Chestnut Hill Academy community,” says Main, “a place that celebrates curiosity, integrity, courage, and the resilience of every student. I’m inspired by SCH’s commitment to developing not just outstanding scholars and athletes, but thoughtful leaders prepared to make positive change in the world. I look forward to partnering with students, families, and coaches to elevate our athletic programs as vibrant extensions of SCH’s mission, where competition builds character, fosters empathy, and every student-athlete is encouraged to explore their full potential both on the field and in life.”

Main will join us in July from Kimball Union Academy in New Hampshire, where she is the athletic director and varsity field hockey coach with direct oversight of 40 interscholastic teams and comprehensive co-curricular programs. She has spearheaded facility modernization projects; created student-athlete leadership programs; led recruitment, hiring, and professional development for coaching staff; and implemented the “STAND Up to Harassment” plan into action.

During her eight-year tenure as assistant executive director of the National Field Hockey Coaches Association, she honed a deep expertise in operations and organizational management. This experience is complemented by her strategic roles on the NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship Committee and its Strategic Planning Subcommittee.

Main holds a master’s in organizational leadership from Quinnipiac University, where she spent the majority of her career serving as head coach for 28 years, transforming its field hockey and lacrosse programs from Division II teams into NCAA Division I competitors with an emphasis on player growth, balanced academic experiences, health and wellness, and on-field tactical development.

Main’s professional approach is deeply informed by her elite field hockey career at Penn State. A standout for the Nittany Lions, she was a two-time All-American, the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year, and a three-time National Championship competitor and USA Field Hockey National team training squad member, earning six international caps as a defender.
