Athletes of the Week Ending October 4

The following students have been named Athletes of the Week ending October 4:

Maddi Moynihan '28 - Volleyball - Maddi, a sophomore captain, is the Devils’ top performer on offense and defense so far this season, with 57 kills, 61 digs, and 15 aces. She leads the team in all offensive categories and has been a super powerhouse overall, majorly contributing in every game but especially in our two huge wins vs defending champion Notre Dame and a very strong GA team! Keep working hard, Maddi!

Maya Taglieber '29 - Field Hockey - Maya had an amazing game with 15 incredible saves against Episcopal Academy, the number 3-ranked team in the country. Our team battled hard and only lost 1 to 0, largely due to Maya’s fantastic defense! Keep up the great work, Maya!

Penn Ruebensaal '28 - Cross Country - Penn had a breakthrough performance at the Inter-Ac meet on Tuesday, September 30, at Belmont Plateau. Penn not only went under 30 minutes for the first time at Belmont, but he also went under 29 minutes, improving his 5k time by 2 minutes and 37 seconds! In addition to his athletic improvement, Penn does a great job leading our team’s cheer at the end of practice and at our meets… 1, 2, 3, Devils!!! Way to go, Penn! Thank you for your commitment to our team!

Alyssa Brown '28 - Tennis - Alyssa stepped into a singles role for the first time with a player out sick, and she came through in a big way with a gutsy and hard-fought straight-set win, 7-5, 7-5 at 3rd singles over Penn Charter. Whether she is playing singles or doubles, Alyssa consistently gives it her all and really had an incredible match in a tough spot. Congrats Alyssa!

Suhaila Khujali Elamin '28 - Cross Country - Sue has made tremendous progress this season, and her growth as a runner has been inspiring to witness. She has steadily dropped her times and gained confidence with each race. Her consistent dedication to training and positive energy at every practice make her an invaluable teammate. Sue’s enthusiasm, kindness, and unwavering commitment to personal growth and team spirit embody the very best of what it means to be a Blue Devil runner. We’re so proud of you, Sue!

Veronica Vinovich '28 - Field Hockey - Veronica is a JV/V swing player and ready to step up whenever either team needs her. She is a great role model for all of the JV players and goes full force into varsity games whenever needed! Keep giving us that energy and positivity, Veronica!

Miles Curtin '30 - Soccer - Miles was the middle school varsity’s lone goal scorer in last week’s match against Haverford. He put in a strong overall performance, and we are excited to see what he does next! Way to go, Miles!

Isa Talley '32 - Soccer - Isa has been a great teammate on the JV squad and has a tremendous amount of skill on the field. His drive and dedication to his craft have led him to have a strong game last week, contributing 1 goal and 3 assists in a 5-0 win over GFS. Keep up the good work, Isa!
