The following students have been named Athletes of the Week ending 4/19:
Devon Donato '28 - Lacrosse - Devon had 2 goals against Notre Dame, 1 goal against Marple Newton, and 3 goals against GA this past week, and she always looks to make plays happen! She has been a hard worker on both defense and attack, and we love the impact she is making as a 9th grader and second year on varsity! Continue to set the tone, Devon!
Andrew Blum '25 - Tennis - Holding down the top spot on the tennis team means you have to play one of the best players in the Philadelphia area in every match. Andrew consistently battles the other team’s best athletes and came out on top in 2 of his 3 matches last week vs LaSalle and Malvern. His strong play and leadership on the court set a great example for his teammates as he fights on the court every match. Congratulations Andrew!
Joey Markey '26 - Baseball - Joey, a junior captain, went 3 for 6 on the week with 4 RBIs and a big home run against Penn Charter! He can always be counted on to make a big play and put in a clutch performance for the varsity. His enthusiasm and passion for baseball are infectious! Great work, Joey!
Zach Silverman '26 - Lacrosse - Zach had a big week, scoring hat tricks in 3 games vs Episcopal, Hun, and Penn Charter! In addition, he tallied 4 assists and gives 100% in every game. Zach provides a great example to the younger players of what it means to have heart and an excellent work ethic. Great job, Zach!
Nadia Bevan '28 - Track and Field - With just a few more weeks to go, Nadia Bevan is having an MVP caliber season! It's Nadia's dedication to her craft that is most impressive (100m, 200m, 400m, LJ). In addition to practice and our scheduled meets, she does plyometric training for Long Jump with Coach Aaron and Tori in the weight room, and she works with specialists during her free time. Nadia is putting in the work, and the results speak for themselves! Six 1st place finishes, four 2nd place finishes, and four 3rd place finishes thus far! Way to go, Nadia!
Tessa Schweitzer '31 - Softball - Tessa has stepped up as a pitcher for the MSG JV team, pitching two complete games. In her first game ever as a pitcher, she struck out 11 batters! This is a new skill and position for Tessa, and the coaches want to recognize her for taking a risk to try something new and for stepping up to help the team in a position of great need!
Delia Torday '31 - Lacrosse - Delia has been an invaluable asset to the MSG JV lacrosse team. Notably, she was the first 6th grader to score a goal this season in our opening game, and she has consistently risen to every challenge presented to her. Delia has played an impressive seven different positions for the team to date, including midfield and even taking draws. Her contributions have been instrumental in our positive start to the season. Thank you, Delia!
