Athletes of the Week Ending 11/12

The following students have been named Athletes of the Week ending November 12:

JT Hughes '23 - Soccer - JT returned to the team after nearly a month's absence with a torn quad muscle to help guide the Hillers on a five-game unbeaten run to end the season. During that span of games, the Hillers outscored their opponents 11-4 and JT's role as a captain and his play as a forward and winger greatly impacted this run, as he scored two goals against Malvern Prep in his final high school game this past Saturday. Additionally, in the PAISAA Quarter Final against Shipley earlier in the week, which went to a penalty kick shootout, JT scored his PK with aplomb. Well done, Jeffrey!

Maia Mocharnuk '23 - Soccer - Maia helped the team secure two shutouts during two state playoff games last week against Baldwin (4-0) and Westtown (1-0). Against Westtown, Maia did an amazing job, putting pressure on their striker and preventing her from turning and starting their attack. Maia has been such a solid center back all season long and continues to impress each game she plays. Way to go, Maia!

Grant Guzik '23 - Football - Grant was a great leader by example and his attitude made a positive impact on the team. Throughout the Inter-Ac season, he played both ways on the offensive and defensive lines, which is a very physically and mentally challenging endeavor. He relished this challenge and gave everything that he had in his tank during each game to the team. This effort was respected by his teammates and coaches alike. We are so proud of you, Grant!

Caroline Foley '23 - Field Hockey - Caroline was tasked to guard the toughest opponent on the other team in every game and consistently played amazing defense. As a senior captain, she helped lead us to the PAISAA semi-finals and the team finished fourth in the Inter-Ac, one of the best finishes the team has had in many years. We wish her the very best in college at Washington and Lee University, where she will play lacrosse!

Dean DiRienzo '27 - Football - In the last MS varsity contest with Malvern on Wednesday, Dean had two catches, and one was on a fourth down play that should have been a top 10 SportsCenter highlight! Dean also had three tackles and two pass breakups on defense, helping the team shutout Malvern 30-0. Dean played multiple positions for the Devils this year, and has done an outstanding job at each one! Way to go, Dean!
