May Howe Clark '33

May’s accomplishments in field hockey are extraordinary. While at Springside, she was on the All-Scholastic team for three years. She was also valedictorian and three-year president of their class, captain of both the Springside and Chestnut hockey teams, member of the varsity basketball and tennis teams, and president of the dramatic club. After Springside, she was a three-time All-American. She was on three national teams and played on the first U.S. team ever to score on the British; the U.S. lost 3-2, but Clark scored both goals. Among Clark’s lesser-known athletic endeavors was when, on a bet from a friend, she traveled by pogo stick from her home at 7921 Lincoln Drive to Springside, without falling off!
