Frank Steel Jr. '77

Frank Steel Jr. had an impressive run as the Head Varsity Tennis Coach at CHA from 1985 through 1997. He stands as one of the most successful head coaches in CHA athletic history with an overall record of 132-57 (70% wins) and six Inter-Ac titles. His teams won their first title in 1990 and then won five straight from 1993 through 1998. The 1990 team was undefeated with an overall record of 16-0. During the stretch of five consecutive Inter-Ac League Championships, the team had an overall record of 60-9 with a league record of 44-6 and a 14-0 record during the 1996 season. He was also an assistant ice hockey coach, assistant girls squash coach, and assistant soccer coach. Frank was an assistant with the varsity boys soccer program from 1985 through 1991. He and HOF Head Coach Jim Talbot began a string of 8 consecutive Inter-Ac League Championships that began while the two of them were coaching together starting with the 1987 season.
