Elisabeth Morris Turman '22

Bobbie Morris Turman was a standout varsity athlete in field hockey and basketball at Springside. As head of the Athletic Board, she started the Blue and Gold competitions that our students have loved every since. After graduation, she returned to school as a P.E. teacher and coached both field hockey and basketball. She also coached and refereed the burgeoning local Philadelphia club field hockey teams well into her 30s. She took up golf and played on the Huntingdon Valley and Sunnybrook Golf Club teams for years where she was a tough and successful competitor. She is one of a very few golfers who can boast of three holes in one! [Ed. Note: Bobbie attended the Athletic Hall of Fame induction ceremony shortly after celebrating her 102nd birthday, at which time she was Springside’s oldest alumna!]
