Dan Gargan '01

Dan was a three-sport athlete while at CHA and was a member of four Inter-Ac Championship teams: two for soccer and two for track. He earned 10 varsity letters, was captain of both the soccer and track teams and a member of the Championship 4 X 100 Penn Relays team his senior year. As a sophomore, he was Second Team All-Inter-Ac. As a junior, he was the Horace L. Witman Soccer Team MVP and as a senior, he was the MVP for the second time, First Team All-Inter-Ac in soccer, and the League MVP and Honorable Mention All Inter-Ac in basketball. He was also awarded the J. L. Patterson Cup as the Outstanding Athlete of the senior class. He attended Georgetown University where he was a two-time captain. In his junior year, he was chosen All-Big East Third Team, was named the team MVP, and selected to the NSCAA/Adidas All-South Atlantic Region Team. He started all 18 games and was the second-leading scorer on the team his junior year. During his senior season, he was an All-Big East Second Team selection, NSCAA All-South Atlantic Region Third Team choice, and finished second on the team in scoring. The Colorado Rapids drafted Dan in the fourth round of the 2005 MLS Supplemental Draft and after the 2006 season, he was selected as the Rapids’ Most Improved Player. He has played in the MLS and the USL since 2005 with over 120 games under his belt and was a member of Toronto FC, who won the Nutrilite Canadian Championship in 2010.
